****
Was your road to publication a delightful stroll in the park or a tiring jog over hot coals?
Oh, it was anything but easy. I was rejected so many times that I could receipt a rejection letter by heart. Black Opal gave me a chance no one else would.
What is the most difficult for you to write: Characters, conflict, emotions?
Hmm. I would say emotions. The characters use a lot of dialect and that’s always easy for me. Emotions can be tricky; sometimes it’s so easy to repeat words when a character has a certain emotion. Publishers or readers do not like that, so it’s best to try to use a wide variety of words.
 Do you have critique partners?
Jordy Albert, another jr. literary agent from the Corvisiero Literary Agency. I ask her to read over my things. She never has a problem with helping me and gives me her honest opinion. I love and appreciate her so much.
If you were going to cast the hero of your book, what actor would get the part?
I already know this one! Steven Strait. He would make an awesome Darrton.
If you could time travel would you go forward or backward?
Definitely backwards. I would stop in the 80s because I love their clothing. But, I think I would like to go to the Victorian age, it sounds so beautiful.
What was the best advice you were given leading you to getting published?
I’m sure this is worn out, but don’t give up. Oh, and get over your work. Use the critiques people give you and go forward to your dreams

Damned Blurb

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lawrence thinks her junior year in school is complete when her ex fling Trevor asks her out again.  But, oh, how she was wrong. Lizzie comes home to find Death of the four horsemen in her back yard. Darrton is arrogant, rude, self-centered, dangerously gorgeous and out to kill. Lizzie takes care of Darrton while he is healing from being damned to earth, but it has consequences she can only imagine. With Warren and Caden of the horsemen after her, Lizzie ends up making decisions that will save Darrton but curse her. Will their growing love for one another be enough to break the bond Lizzie will makes to save Darrton’s soul, or will she be damned just the same?

*****

1- What is the most difficult for you to write: Characters, conflict, emotions?

Conflict – always!! For me, this is the biggest challenge because you have to pin down a conflict (often more than one) that is real and sustainable for the length of the story you are telling. I prefer to write around the 25,000 word mark so the conflict has to be strong enough not to be resolved in a few pages yet not so big it needs a novel. I’ve yet to find the magic formula!

2 -  If you were going to cast the hero of your book, what actor would get the part?

Julian McMahon – whenever I sit down to write a new story, I scour pictures of the rich and famous until inspiration strikes. That’s how I start all my stories, with an image. Julian McMahon fit perfectly as Sam Clarke J

3 - If you could time travel would you go forward or backward?

Backward, definitely – I am an absolute history lover. My favorite eras are Tudor and Victorian. There was so many fascinating social and political issues going on in these times – so much change. I am playing around with the idea of a Victorian novella for my next project as we speak. Watch this space!

4 - Favorite romance movie?

When A Man Loves A Woman – although the subject matter of alcoholism is the basis of this film, I think it is one of the most romantic movies ever. The emotion, the frustration, the angst and push/pull over the ripple effect of the disease is heartbreaking and so very, very real. The relationship and the hero’s love for the heroine is unsurpassed – and of course, wondefully portrayed by Andy Garcia…

5 - What is your favorite time of year?

Summer…or maybe early Fall. I love the feel of the heat on my skin (which is rare in the UK!) and being able to wear a nice, strappy dress. Having said that, I also love watching the season evolve into Fall. The new colors and changes are gorgeous, plus there’s nothing like slipping into cozy boots and a coat and taking my dog for a long walk in the forest.

Blurb:

Chef Michelle Hutton flees her controlling mother in the UK for the sun and freedom of Greece, longing for a new beginning and maybe just a bit of Zante’s local heat. Sexy, pro-bono lawyer Sam Clarke might just be the one to teach her to let go. He's sexy, capable, and totally in control. And too damn hard to resist.

Sam Clarke and his best friend had once been the baddest boys to hit the local party scene— sex, booze, and more sex—until his friend is killed. Sam turned his back on the blatant sexuality of the island years ago, but can’t resist Michelle’s desire to bask in the sun and explore the need that grows between them.

Excerpt:

Closer and closer he came, rounding the counter and standing so close to her that Michelle was forced to tip her head back to meet his eyes. The smell of him – warm, musky and clean--wafted under her nose. She inhaled…and really wished she hadn’t as her knees quivered. She took another step back until her ass hit the steel countertop behind her.
His gaze darted over her face, lingering at her lips. Michelle put a hand on his chest without thinking and then whipped it back to grip the counter.
Trepidation mixed with arousal pooled like liquid in her stomach. “Sam, talk to me. What’s wrong?”
His eyes dropped to her chest and unmistakable lust flared in eyes, darkening them to a gorgeous midnight blue. Desire pulled at her core and her nipples tightened.
He met her eyes. “Everything.”
She was trapped by the raw animal need to have him. To feel his hands on her bare skin, his mouth on hers. She licked dry lips. “You look like you’re either going to attack me or--”
“Fuck you?”
She flinched. The harsh expletive shocked and aroused her in equal measure. “What?”
His hands clamped onto her hips, possessive and unyielding. A feral storm raged in his dark blue gaze. “I need to know.”
She stared, unable to move or breathe. “Need to know what?”
“Need to know if this…these feelings…are just--”
“Lust?” The word slipped from her tongue, her mind blank of everything but Sam. The way he smelled, the lickable square line of his jaw. The yearning to have him on her, in her, over her.
The corner of his mouth twitched and a little of the fiery frustration seeped from his eyes. “Exactly.”

New Release Wed. = Meet Sandra Dailey + Give*away!

Please help me welcome the talented SANDRA DAILEY to the blog! She brought a great new contemporary for you! Sandra will pick 1 lucky winner of a PDF (e-copy) of THE CHIEF'S PROPOSAL!
Thanks for being here today, Sandra :)

Where is your favorite place to write?
I have an enclosed porch on the front of my house with a lot of windows. I’ve made a little office at the end. I can look out on the beautiful North Florida scenery while I work.
What is the most difficult for you to write: Characters, conflict, emotions?
Emotion is the hardest part for me. I grew up with military parents. We learned to soldier on without showing much reaction. I know, weird for a romance writer, right?
Do you have critique partners?
No. In my area, the closest book store is thirty miles away, the local library is closed most of the time, and the nearest RWA is over sixty miles away. No writing groups, no book clubs, and no interest. My mom helps with the mechanics, my husband with the technical stuff, and my sister with the plotting problems. It’s a family affair.
What music are you listening to lately?
I love all kinds of music. For inspiration, I like country or jazz best. For fun, I like reggae or classic rock.
Favorite romance Movie?
If I have to name only one, I’d say ‘The Wedding Date’.
What is your favorite time of year?
Summer time! I love the heat. The less clothes the better. I recently noticed that all my stories take place in the summer time. A habit I need to break.
Tropical or European vacation?
Need you ask? The Caribbean or South Pacific Islands would be great.
The blurb:
Ginny Dearing has finally realized her goal of teaching, but finding a position is proving impossible. After exhausting all possibilities, an Internet ad is her only hope. In a small town hundreds of miles away there is a job with one huge string attached...a husband.
Burned by love once, Brett Silverfeather finds his bachelor life more than satisfying. He’s facing re-election for sheriff, but this time the voters are looking for a family man. Brett finds himself pursuing a marriage he doesn’t want.
Ginny and Brett are opposite in every way, but opposites do attract. Can Brett protect his heart as well as he does his town? Can Ginny hide a secret past that could possibly destroy her future?

An excerpt:
When she opened the door, she caught her breath in a gasp. Brett stood in the center of the room. The only things he was wearing were his arm sling and a pair of black boxer briefs. The tight, stretchy garment dipped low in the front due to the nice way he filled them out. She honestly tried to look him in the eye, but on her way up, her attention was caught by the expanse of dark smooth skin over washboard abs and a wide strong chest. The man was Playgirl centerfold ready.
Brett cleared his throat. “A little help here, please? I can’t get my britches on one-handed.”
Ginny was confused until she saw the uniform pants in his right hand. He needed help dressing and she couldn’t think of who to call. Suddenly it hit her. She was his wife. He expected her to help. Would this fall into the category of for better, or for worse? And what was he doing with his uniform anyway? He’d left the hospital less than twelve hours ago.
“Why are you out of bed?”
“I got lonely,” Brett smirked. “Are you volunteering to keep me company in there? I’d be glad to crawl back in, in exchange for some serious body heat. Who knows,” he winked, “it could be mutually satisfying.”
A wave of heat overtook her entire body as her imagination kicked into overdrive. What was wrong with her? She’d never had erotic fantasies until she got to Three Trees. Perhaps it was caused by something in the water. She should have it bottled and sell it to make a fortune.
“You know I have to go to the school today,” she croaked. Embarrassed, she cleared her throat. “It’s my last chance to check out my classroom before the kids arrive tomorrow.”
Brett took a step closer. “Hmmm, I didn’t hear a no in there anywhere.”
“You were just shot three days ago.” Ginny looked as panicked as the only girl bunny in a full hutch. “I thought you’d still be heavily medicated and resting for a while.”
“I’m not taking those pain pills,” Brett stated matter-of-factly, “I need to be alert. The county doesn’t pay me to lie on my back. Instead, I plan to sit on my butt at my desk.”
“Well then, you can just go to work naked.”
Brett glowered at her. “I don’t have to. Lisa is picking me up this morning. If you won’t help me get dressed, she will.”
“Like hell.” Ginny jerked the pants out of his hand.
Brett grinned. “Careful, Dove. That almost sounded like jealousy.”
“Shut up.”
She knelt in front of him and held his pants open as he gripped her shoulder with one hand and stepped into them. Her head was turned to the side and her eyes were squeezed shut. She was leaned back at a dangerous angle.
“You have seen men before, haven’t you?”
“Of course,” Ginny said.
“Then you know there isn’t anything down there that bites.”
